The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate, visited Sunderland on the 21st of February. They came to see the new Northern Spire bridge, and officially open the renovated Old Fire Station on High Street West.
Our Fundraising Officer, Charlotte, went down to the Old Fire Station to take some pictures of the Royals. Our Marketing Officer, Amy, then published the images on social media, and the hype picked up from there.
Our tweets ended up being the top two tweets for #RoyalVisit and #Sunderland, and we gained over 20’000 impressions on Twitter alone. Our tweets were then picked up and published by Metro, OK Magazine, People.com, Napal24, CNN News, Insider, WhatKateWears.com and more! A fantastic response to our tweets.
It was great to get Springboard such good exposure, but it’s a subtle reminder of how quickly news can spread, and how we don’t want bad news to spread like this!
