With Mother’s Day taking place this weekend, we caught up with our very own Data Officer Holly Magee, ex-Springboard Alumni, who in disguise is a blooming new artist who currently has an exhibition showcasing her art, alongside her Mother.
Part of the Springboard Alumni, Holly first started at Springboard Jarrow after giving birth to her little boy. Holly came to Springboard to study for a Business Admin diploma, before progressing on to the role of Centre Admin at Jarrow, when a maternity cover vacancy became available. During our recent restructure at Springboard, Holly was then appointed as our new Data Officer, which is where she is now.
“Springboard where brilliant when I needed to retrain after giving birth, I first met Gail and was then enrolled on to the Business Admin diploma, whilst studying for the diploma I completed two days a week placement at Jarrow, which is where I met Shelagh. It took me seven months to finish my qualification, and once finished I stayed in touch with Shelagh and the rest of the Jarrow staff. Once the Maternity cover post became available, Shelagh asked if I’d be interested, so I took on the role. I’ve always loved data and when the Data Officer vacancy became available, I was keen to apply, and that’s where I’m at now!”
Holly is a member of Sunderland Art Club, along with her Mother, where they attend painting classes every Friday Morning and St Celia’s Church. Both Holly and her Mother currently have an exhibition on at The Granary Gallery, Art Centre Washington, where their artwork is displayed until the 3rd of April.
Holly was never interested in art at school, and it wasn’t until her Mum asked her to accompany her to the art classes that Holly found out about her hidden talent.
Humble about her talent of course, Holly is now producing lovely paintings, and has even been asked to commission a few from Springboard staff. If you’re interested in visiting Holly and her Mother’s exhibition, you can find all details on the flyer below.
