Springboard Futures Learners have been talking about how wars have affected local people in the Southwick community. Learners researched and found that a lot of local residents, close to the Springboard building had given their lives in conflict.
They were also moved by the civilians who also lost their lives, some of whom were their age. They decided to make poppies from recycled pop bottles to mark the lives of each resident they researched.
Learner Thomas said; “We didn’t know much about ordinary people and the war but when we looked at how many local people were affected we were moved. We decided to make poppies to mark the lives of as many as we could who lived near to Springboard, we learned a lot.”
