This qualification will develop the knowledge and awareness of the types of provision in the Health, Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s sectors. They include the roles played by workers, from principles and values through to health and safety and working with others. I left school not knowing what I really wanted to do so I took a chance and joined Springboard. On Study Programme I met Gemma. She helped and supported me through my Level 1 Health and Social Care and soon enough I was on placement at Sycamore Care Centre. The care home offered me an apprenticeship and I jumped at the chance because I really loved caring for elderly people. I realised quickly that this is what I wanted to do. Ashley, my mentor helps me in the care home and Gemma supports me through a Diploma. I love that I have 1 lesson every fortnight in Springboard where all apprentices get together and share experiences. It helps me so much with learning and the support is fab.
